Our subconscious mind is 6000 times more powerful than our conscious mind. 

Our mind creates our reality on a daily basis as it governs our belief systems, actions, emotions and so much more. It is divided into two parts: the conscious mind which occupies 8-10% and the subconscious mind which comprises 88-90% of the mind. 

During the day, our conscious mind remains active and in charge. When we go off to sleep, the control of our mind is handed over from the conscious to the subconscious mind. The period of the last thirty minutes before going off to sleep is known as LIFO - Last In First Out. Actually, the thoughts that we play right before going off to sleep are the first to be stored in our subconscious when we go off to sleep. Just like while filing papers in a folder, the last page to be filed is the first one visible when you open the file next time. 

Golden Thirty Minutes!

These thirty minutes before going off to sleep are also known as the 'golden thirty minutes' because this is the time that the switch from the conscious mind to the subconscious mind is taking place, meaning the thoughts, emotions that we play during this period are magnified 6000 times by our own subconscious mind.

Therefore if you sleep with self-deprecating thoughts, worries, anxiety, etc., these get magnified and become your belief systems affecting your everyday life. However, if you use the same thirty minutes to consciously play positive thoughts/ affirmations, the same influence your thoughts, and therefore your responses to the same things become different, thus creating a different/favorable reality for you. 

Reprogramming Your Thoughts in 21 days

All you have to do is purposefully utilize your LiFo time over a course of 11-21 days for reprogramming your thoughts and thereafter continue doing these rituals for continued growth. Writing affirmations, mental banking, gratitude, future journals, etc are all rituals that can be adopted for achieving desired results. 

Now, as such, changing the way we think can do this for us. However, the significance of doing this in LIFO is that this is the period where the subconscious mind is taking charge, magnifying the same thoughts much more than the conscious mind could during the wake hours. Hence, the same result is achieved much faster by using your LIFo time judiciously. The same rule may also be applied to sub-cognitive therapeutic modalities like Hypnotherapy. Thus, six sessions of such a modality would give you the same (if not better) results as 600 sessions using a cognitive modality for therapeutic benefit.
