Fear vs Phobia
Fear
There are motivational quotes and sayings that inspire to give up our fears and be fearless. Such as, "The fear we don't face becomes our limits" or "Everything you want is on the other side of fear". However, reading such motivational quotes doesn't really reduce the level of fear experienced. The good news is that fear of any kind can be completely dealt with as if it never existed in our lives.
Fears do n't allow us to explore our infinite possibilities and indirectly restricts us to enjoy a more confident and fearless self.
Some basic fears that are commonly known to all of us are fear of public speaking, fear of judgement, fear of unknown/darkness, fear of failure, fear of criticism and rejection.
Certain uncommon fears are fear of losing freedom, fear of being cheated, fear of survival, fear of success, fear of all efforts going in vain, fear of being unloved.
Phobia
Strong fearful responses to certain situations and things can take away quality time and effort to tackle it. Phobic responses also include efforts made to avoid such facing situations and things. For example fear of germs, fear of snakes, fear of spiders, fear of heights , fear of flying insects or crawling insects, fear of lizard. fear of accident.
Though fear and phobia seem similar but these have some important differential attributes...
Fear response have known origin and just a thought of the stimulant (root cause) does not produce severe physiological response. Fears can be removed in one session.
Whereas phobic reaction to stimulus, origin is unknown. Even a thought of the stimulant will disturb the client to the core. Phobia requires 4-5 session to be completely removed.
